Bridging
Bridging will happen when a static balance occurs between the internal friction in the silo ans the load applied by the product being stored.
Mass-flow : it refers to the emptying of the silo without any segregation. It ensures all the particle of varying sizes move down the silo at the same rate. Mass-Flow is often referred to as FIFO or "First In, First Out" principal.
Negative Pressure
Negative Pressure : it happens when a chimney or "rat hole" collapses within the silo. Often, the vacuum relife valve or filter does not have time to act.
Chimney
Chimney is located on the longer slope. This phenomenom often happens when the silo is not equipped with Bin Activator or is equipped with a too small Bin Activator.
Crash down
Crash down : it occurs when the existing chimney collapses and product falls to the cone section of the silo causing extreme loading and possible damage.
Overpressure
Overpressure is either caused as a direct result of product "crash down" that may let it to behave flushing.
Flushing
Flushing : when a powder behaves as a liquid. This phenomenom may be the result of a crash down which allows the product to be aerated.
