Context

The company ISERCO has carried out a conditioning line in big bag of crushed plastic for recycling.

The customer had decided to expand its premises and wanted to replace part of its manual conditioning process with an automated system. The aim was to increase productivity and speed up the filling rate of the big bags.

The installation is divided into 2 parts. The first one is a double filling station. The second is a single filling station fed by a vibrating buffer hopper.

These 3 filling stations are made of carbon steel.

The proposed solution

The double filling station and the single station are partly composed of the same elements.

They are all made up of:

  • A steel frame
  • An automatic big bag unhooking system at the end of the conditioning process
  • A densification table to ensure the densification of the product, to obtain a stable big bag, and to optimize its filling capacity
  • A mobile apron to extend the big bag and optimize its filling.
  • A Clean Connect, a sealing system by pinching of the big bag sleeve.
  • A preforming fan ensures the shaping of the big bag and facilitates its filling.
  • A commercial weighing system
  • A high-level sensor
  • An automatic system
  • A pneumatic transport system

An automated commercial weighing solution is integrated into this installation. It is composed of 4 sensors located under each station, a connection box, and a weighing indicator. Each big bag filling station has a control cabinet with an integrated HMI, intended to control the weighing operations.

All filling stations are equipped with a box with the pneumatic and electrical equipment necessary for their operation.

The double station works continuously. A 2-way distributor is responsible for distributing the product to the right or left station, depending on the filling and availability of the latter.

The other filling station is fed by a vibrating buffer hopper of about 2 m³. A magnetic trap is installed upstream of the hopper. This is a device for detecting any ferrous substances that could contaminate the crushed plastic. If iron content is detected, the product is diverted to a discharge line.

The entire system was installed and commissioned by ISERCO.
